Activists In Rhode Island Shock Dems
As the 2024 presidential election draws closer, Black Lives Matter (BLM) leader Mark Fisher has thrown his support behind former President Trump, citing the Democratic Party’s “racist policies” and duplicity towards the Black community.
In a recent interview on ‘FOX & Friends’, Fisher, who is the co-founder of Black Lives Matter Rhode Island, discussed why some Black voters are reconsidering their support for the Democrats. “It’s the hypocrisy of the Democrats,” Fisher stated. “We’re not stupid. The brothers are not stupid. We understand when someone’s for us and when someone is not, and it’s obvious that the Democratic Party is not for us.”
Fisher went on to criticize the Democratic Party for their policies, arguing that they are not in the best interest of the Black community. “The policies actually strike at the heart of the Black family and the nuclear family,” he explained. Fisher’s statements come after an earlier interview with “The Kim Iversen Show”, where he praised Trump for advocating policies that uplift the Black community.
“Their policies are basically racist policies. I believe it’s a racist party. Donald Trump is just the opposite. He’s going to tell you how it is. He’s going to give it to you straight,” Fisher said.
According to recent polls, Fisher’s sentiments are echoed by a growing number of Black voters. A New York Times/Siena College poll found that Trump’s support among Black voters in battleground states has increased from 8% in 2020 to 22% in 2021. Additionally, a poll from May showed that only 41% of Black adults said they wanted Biden to run for a second term.
Fisher believes that this shift in support towards Trump is due to a lack of education among Black voters about his policies and their impact on the community. “A lot of people are misinformed. They don’t really understand because they don’t educate themselves on Donald Trump as a person and his history,” Fisher stated. He believes that with more education and information, the Black community will naturally gravitate towards supporting Trump.
Despite his newfound support for Trump, Fisher maintains his affiliation with Black Lives Matter and emphasizes a message of unity. “My message that I preach and that I tell is unity. It’s a message of unity, unity driven,” Fisher said. “I want to bring together all the marginalized groups from the margins and bring them to the center, because we’re stronger together as one nation under God, indivisible.”
