American Child Dead After A Hail Of Bullets In Shocking Attack Just South Of Texas In Mexico
An America child is dead after the family was attacked just south of Texas in Mexico. According to reports, the family was traveling home after visiting Mexico for the holidays. The State Attorney General for the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico confirmed the child is a US citizen and the family is also citizens of the United States.
The family was traveling from a visit to relatives in the state of San Luis Potosi in a Chevrolet SUV with Oklahoma plates back to the US.
The highway were the attack occurred is considered high risk as it runs through an area that is contested between two cartels – the Gulf Cartel and Zetas. The attack was just minutes from US border and connects the city of Meir with Nueva Ciudad Guerrero which is on the border.
Officials from the State Department said, “We can confirm that one U.S. citizen was killed, and two U.S. citizens injured, in an attack in Tamaulipas, Mexico on January 4. We offer our sincerest condolences to the family on their loss, and we are providing them all appropriate consular assistance. We are closely monitoring local authorities’ investigation into this brutal attack. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we have no further comment at this time.”
It not known why the family was targeted.
Senator Ted Cruz responded to the attack asking citizens to please be careful at the border in Texas and thanked border agents for the dangerous work they do to protect America.
As violence escalates near the TX-Mexico border, I’m grateful for the work of @CBP, law enforcement, & others for protecting Texans. To all Texans in or traveling near Nuevo Laredo, please be safe and heed warnings from local officials.https://t.co/HSEWmsQObJ via @WUSA9

The Mexican border is becoming a war zone and it appears that the Mexican government has no control of cartel activity. This is the second attack on US citizens in the last two months.
