AOC Has Shocking Remarks About Sen. Diane Feinstein – Watch
In a move that is sure to further fracture the already divided Democratic Party, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has called for Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to resign. Feinstein, who is 89 years old, has been in the Senate since 1992. She is the oldest sitting senator in American history.
“I think criticisms of that stance as ‘anti-feminist’ are a farce,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a post. “Her refusal to either retire or show up is causing great harm to the judiciary — precisely where [reproductive] rights are getting stripped. That failure means now in this precious window Dems can only pass GOP-approved nominees.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s call for Feinstein’s resignation comes amid a number of controversies surrounding the California senator. In recent months, Feinstein has been criticized for her handling of the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, her close ties to the tech industry, and her support for the war in Iraq.
Ocasio-Cortez, who is a self-described democratic socialist, has been a vocal critic of Feinstein’s record. In a recent interview, Ocasio-Cortez said that Feinstein is “out of touch” with the needs of the American people and that she “represents the old guard of the Democratic Party.”
Feinstein’s office has not yet responded to Ocasio-Cortez’s call for her resignation. However, it is clear that the call has struck a nerve with the California senator. In a recent speech, Feinstein said that she is “not going anywhere” and that she is “fighting for the people of California.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s call for Feinstein’s resignation is a sign of the growing divide within the Democratic Party. The party is increasingly split between its progressive and moderate wings. Feinstein is a member of the Democratic establishment, while Ocasio-Cortez is a member of the progressive wing of the party.
In the meantime, Ocasio-Cortez’s call for Feinstein’s resignation is sure to further fuel the fire of the Democratic Party’s internal divisions.
In a Bluesky AMA, @AOC says Dianne Feinstein should retire and that "criticisms of that stance as 'anti-feminist' are a farce.
