AOC Walks Right Into Corruption Scandal
Recently, the House of Representatives held the first in a series of congressional hearings targeting the Chinese social media giant, TikTok. This hearing exposed some alarming facts about the company’s subservience to the Chinese government and its access to the personal information of millions of Americans.
Shockingly, some progressive Democrats have decided to openly side with TikTok, instead of standing up for American citizens’ privacy rights. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio–Cortez, for example, put out her “first” TikTok extolling the wonders of the Chinese spy operation.

Adding to the alarm, a new report is casting doubt on Ocasio–Cortez’s motivation. According to Fox News, TikTok’s parent company, Bytedance, gave the Hispanic Congressional Caucus Foundation $150,000 back in December. What’s more, Ocasio–Cortez sits on the advisory board of that very same foundation. It seems that Ocasio–Cortez and other Democrats are willing to sell Americans’ personal data to China all it costs is a few million dollars in donations over the last few years.
Rep. Jamal Bowman, another progressive firebrand, has also been vocally defending TikTok. Bowman’s vehement support of the Chinese spy front is also concerning, particularly since he is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, which Bytedance has also been bankrolling through its non–profit wing.
The House committee going after TikTok should add these donations to its list of things to investigate. It’s clear Ocasio–Cortez and Bowman are more interested in currying favor with their corporate donors than standing up for their constituents’ rights. This situation stinks to high heaven, and having congressional members take the side of a proven Chinese spy front should raise everyone’s eyebrows.
