AOC’s Vain May Result In Criminal Charges
It appears that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio–Cortez is not as “woman of the people” as she claims to be. According to a recent report by the New York Post, the congresswoman was desperate to attend the 2021 Met Gala and was willing to break the law to do so.
Ocasio–Cortez and her staff were lobbying the woman who runs the gala for two free tickets, one for herself and one for her then–boyfriend. With tickets costing nearly six figures, it‘s clear that the Congresswoman was not in a financial position to attend the event. And yet, she still managed to snag two free tickets by cozying up to Vogue’s Anna Wintour.
The problem is that Members of Congress cannot accept near–seven–figure gifts from companies that employ lobbyists, and Vogue is part of a sprawling media firm that includes the firm that owns a big piece of Spectrum, our highly regulated internet provider. Despite this, Ocasio–Cortez still accepted the tickets.
And that‘s not all. Ocasio–Cortez also accepted a dress rental for the event that cost tens of thousands of dollars, and there are questions about who paid for the servants who followed her around.
The Republican Party is appalled by Ocasio–Cortez’s behavior. She is clearly not the “woman of the people” she claims to be. We believe that the House ethics commission should take action to at least sanction her for accountability’s sake.
This situation is a perfect example of how socialists operate. Ocasio-Cortez pretends to want fairness and to despise upper-class excesses, yet she clearly wants to be part of the club at the same time. This is an unacceptable double standard.
Wow. I did not realize the extent of the issues here.
AOC apparently not only lied about her Met Gala invite to try to circumvent Congressional ethics rules, but also tried to stiff a bunch of small businesses that helped her attend.https://t.co/fuq3YnIDIj pic.twitter.com/o1yAVGgatE
