Benedict Mitch McConnell Dumps Trump, Threatens US Senators Over Electoral College Vote
What is the point in allowing Republicans to control the Senate when they pull nonsense like this.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is warning Republican Senators that they better not support any Republican Congressman attempting to contest the Electoral College vote.
“First, the Republican leader heaped praise on Trump’s ‘endless’ accomplishments as he congratulated President-elect Joe Biden during a morning Senate speech,” the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported Wednesday. “Then he pivoted, privately warning Republican senators away from disputing the Electoral College tally when Congress convenes in a joint session Jan. 6 to confirm the results.”
McConnell believes that if a US Senator contests the Electoral College vote it would result in the GOP losing both seats in the Georgia runoff.
Alabama Republican Rep. Mo Brooks has announced he will object to the final Electoral College vote over concerns that results in five battleground states are tainted. It only takes one Senator for Brooks to be successful and it would force a special vote in congress to decide who is President.
“We have a superior role under the Constitution than the Supreme Court does, than any federal court judge does, than any state court judge does,” Brooks said last week. “What we say, goes. That’s the final verdict.”
McConnell is also claiming that if any Senator supporters Brooks it would harm those running for election in 2022. The Senate majority leader has enlisted his henchman Senator John Thune of South Dakota to lobby lawmakers one by one to make sure they fall in line.
If a US Senator doesn’t back Brooks almost every Republican in the Senate is going to get primaried the next time their names are on the ballot. However, if a Republican Senator stands with Brooks and fights for President Trump the base would go nuts and you’d see people coming out of the woodwork to vote for the GOP in Georgia.
If a GOP Senator does not support Brooks posts like the one below are hollow meant to string us all along.
