USA Taxpayers Funds Given To Palestinians May Have Been Used Improperly
About two months ago the Biden administration quietly tld Congress that the Palestinian Authority has use international aid money to reward terrorist but that won’t stop them from restarting aid.
In a non-public State Department report leaked to the Washington Free Beacon, the Biden administration said the Palestinians spent at $151 million in 2019 on its “pay-to-slay” program.
From the Washington Free Beacon:
In a non-public State Department report obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, the administration said the Palestinians spent at least $151 million in 2019 on its “pay-to-slay” program, in which international aid dollars are spent to support imprisoned terrorists and their families. Financial statements further indicate that at least $191 million was spent on “deceased Palestinians referred to as ‘martyrs.’” Despite this practice, which violates U.S. law and prompted the Trump administration to freeze aid to the Palestinians, the “Biden-Harris Administration has made clear its intent to restart assistance to the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza,” according to the report.
An Israeli watch dog group reported that the Palestinian government spent $155 million on the “pay-to-slay” program and most of the money was funneled through the PLO in violation of US law.
At the time of the report it was unclear how or when the program would restart however, a couple weeks later Secretary of State Anthony Blinken proudly announced US taxpayer funds would be sent to the Palestinians.
We are pleased to announce the resumption of U.S. assistance to the Palestinian people. It will provide important humanitarian relief and promote regional prosperity and stability, while advancing American values and interests. https://t.co/nQSWvRKxA3
