Biden’s Son’s Business Partner Spills the Beans
A former business partner of Hunter Biden testified on Monday that the president’s son used the Biden “brand” to his advantage while working for Ukrainian energy company Burisma, and that he met with his father at the White House in 2014 with a Kazakh bank official.
Archer testified in front of the House Oversight Committee in July, he claimed Biden was on speakerphone with his son during more than 20 calls relating to foreign business deals dating back to 2014. But in this particular case, Archer said he met with the Bidens for an exclusive breakfast meeting at the U.S. Naval Observatory adjacent to the White House with Marc Holtzman, chairman of Kazakhstan’s largest bank, Kazkommertsbank.
The conversation focused on Holtzman lobbying then-Vice President Biden to use his influence to help then-Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov — who is currently serving 18 years in a Kazakhstan jail after authorities convicted him of high treason and other crimes — to be Secretary-General of the United Nations, according to Archer.
“It was about who was going to be the next U.N. Secretary-General … Marc Holtzman was lobbying for Karim Massimov,” Archer said during his testimony. “But it was, obviously, that didn’t happen.”
Archer added that the meeting also occurred to further Burisma’s energy deal in Ukraine.
“The other reasons for Massimov were Burisma Eurasia, because he was the Prime Minister, and Burisma was trying to expand its businesses, so I leveraged the relationship to introduce him to the company — the country and new equipment and technology and clean drilling,” Archer said. “So that was — that was probably some of the effort.”
However, the deal was reportedly never made.
Biden has repeatedly claimed he never spoke with his son about foreign business dealings.
Archer told lawmakers that “Biden was used as ‘The Brand’ and to send ‘signals’ of power, access, and influence to enrich the Biden family from foreign sources,” the committee wrote in the news release.
