Bongino Gives Comment On Comey Investigation
In a fiery interview that sent shockwaves through the political and law enforcement communities, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino launched a scathing rebuke of former FBI Director James Comey on Fox & Friends Thursday morning. The segment, which has since ignited a blaze of commentary across conservative media, painted Comey not just as an inept former bureaucrat, but as a symbol of everything that went wrong within the Bureau before the Trump-era shakeup.
Deputy Director of the FBI Dan Bongino blasts James Comey:
“We have wasted countless man hours now running out tips through our tip line about people putting ‘8647’ because of Jim Comey, because he cannot control himself and his emotions. ⁰He is a child. He is a big child.”… pic.twitter.com/IY6AIV0Fns

Bongino began with a sobering reflection on the state of the Bureau upon his swearing-in, citing the “rebuilding of public trust” as a top priority alongside Director Kash Patel. That trust, he emphasized, had been eroded not by honest missteps, but by what he called “bad actors”—a not-so-subtle reference to James Comey, among others. His words carried weight, particularly given his position and his direct involvement in efforts to rehabilitate the Bureau’s standing.
But it wasn’t just institutional decay that Bongino called out—it was an alleged direct threat.
At the heart of Bongino’s takedown was a now-infamous beach photo posted by Comey, depicting a seemingly innocent shell formation reading “86 47.” While Comey insisted it was a random discovery, critics were quick to point out the law enforcement slang: “86” can imply elimination, and paired with “47” (Trump being the 47th president if re-elected), the message took on a much darker tone.
🚨 JUST IN: Dan Bongino says they’ve discovered an entire ROOM full of intentionally mishandled and hidden evidence from Comey’s FBI
“We found it in bags, hiding under Jim Comey’s FBI, you’re going to be stunned.”

Bongino didn’t mince words. He accused Comey of childishness, irresponsibility, and an outright failure to consider the consequences of his actions. He cited an uptick in similar threats received by the FBI in the aftermath of the post, claiming that the Bureau has “wasted countless manhours” tracking leads inspired by Comey’s symbolism.
Then came the bombshell.
In an eyebrow-raising moment, Bongino described the discovery of a room—a relic from Comey’s tenure—containing materials not logged through official FBI channels. Bags of unprocessed documents, absent from digital records, suggest potential mishandling or even intentional concealment.
The Bureau, he said, is now working to declassify the contents, a process that could bring to light yet another chapter of controversy under Comey’s leadership.
