Clinton’s Labor Secretary, Robert Reich Pleads with Biden Not to Run Again
It’s not just a senior moment anymore…it’s been a senior month.
The Republicans are not the only ones talking about President Joe Biden’s decreasing cognitive ability. Bill Clinton’s former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, 76, has joined the chorus.
Reich recently said that he knows a few things about aging and he said with the intent that President Joe Biden should not run for office again in 2024.
Robert Reich wrote an op-ed in The Guardian about Biden who is 79 years old.
“It’s not death that’s the worrying thing about a second Biden term. It’s the dwindling capacities that go with aging.”
Reich didn’t mince words, not even in the title of the op-ed: “As a 76-year-old let me say: Joe Biden is too old to run again.”
If the president was elected for another term, he would start the four years at 82 years of age.
Reich, a solid Democrat, said of his own decreased capacity, “I often can’t remember where I put my wallet and keys. Certain proper nouns have disappeared altogether. Even when rediscovered, they have a diabolical way of disappearing again.”
“Biden’s secret service detail can worry about his wallet, and he’s got a teleprompter for wayward nouns, but I’m sure he’s experiencing some diminution in the memory department,” Reich wrote. “I’m also noticing less patience, perhaps because of an unconscious ‘use by’ timer now clicking away. I’m less tolerant of long waiting lines, automated phone menus, and Republicans.”
And the former Clinton cabinet member joked regarding what is to come, “How the hell does Biden maintain tact or patience when he has to deal with Joe Manchin?”
Reich did not only write about Biden’s age issue, he had some words for a bunch of folks all about his age. He declared that members of his generation, “including Bill and Hillary, George [W.] Trump, Newt Gingrich, Clarence Thomas, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Biden” had “f***ed it up royally. The world will probably be better without us.”
He ended the impassioned piece by simply saying, “Joe, please don’t run.”
So add Robert Reich to the list of concerned leaders like former White House physician Rep. Ronny Jackson.
“I was a White House physician to three U.S. Presidents, and I can tell you something isn’t right with Joe Biden’s cognitive state.”
