Cruz Wants Mayorkas Out of Department of Homeland Security Now!
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) thinks that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas needs to be removed from his position immediately because the chaos at the southern border shows no signs of getting any better.
Cruz shared his deep concern after there were 251,487 encounters between illegal aliens and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) last month.
That number is the highest ever recorded in the history of the United States. If you add last month’s numbers to the first two months of the fiscal year, October and November, that puts America on track for more than 2.87 million illegal alien encounters on the U.S. southern border in a year.
The Biden administration has seen ten straight months of more than 200,000 illegal alien encounters per month on the southern border.
“The Verdict” co-host, Ben Ferguson, asked Sen. Cruz about his thoughts on Mayorkas. Ferguson talked to the senator about the number of people who believe there is a good chance that the Homeland Security Secretary is going to be investigated and impeached. They think that he has known what was happening at the border and has misled the country making them think the border is secure.
Ferguson said, “Is there going to be any movement, you think early in this year, at least on the House side?”
“I believe the answer is yes,” Cruz responded. “I believe the House of Representatives will impeach Alejandro Mayorkas. I think they will do it this year, likely in the first half of the year. I will be shocked if they don’t go forward. I think it’s extremely likely and I think it is important. We have never had a cabinet secretary so utterly refuse to do his job and in fact instruct his employees to actively defy federal law, to frustrate federal law.”
Cruz said that what Mayorkas has done is direct Homeland Security to both facilitate and expedite people breaking the law. He said Mayorkas is the first cabinet officer of a U.S. administration that has devoted their “entire time” to “abdicating his entire statutory responsibility.”
Cruz believes that the House will impeach him but then Sen. Chuck Schumer will sweep it under the rug.
