D.C. Mayor Feeling Some Texas Heat on Immigration…Declares Emergency!
Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser just felt some Texas heat in her city, and she can’t stand it. The bewildered mayor was forced to declare a public emergency on Thursday over the number of illegal immigrants headed to D.C.
This is just the latest city to feel the pressure that is felt every day at the southern border and also to face the results of their progressive policies.
The nation’s capital has seen approximately 9,500 illegal immigrants arrive since April. Just for a point of reference, there are 7,000 to 8,000 immigrants illegally crossing into Texas from Mexico each day, according to Texas DPS.
Mayor Bowser released a declaration that city hall will pay $10 million taxpayer dollars to create more bureaucracy in the form of a new Office of Migrant Services. This office “will provide support with reception, respite, meals, temporary accommodations, urgent medical needs, transportation, connection to resettlement services, translation services, and other needs as they are determined.”
The emergency declaration will also authorize the city administrator and CFO to set aside additional funds to be spent as they see fit in response to the crisis.
Before this move, Mayor Bowser complained about the number of illegal immigrants coming to her city from Texas and Arizona. She also made a bid to get federal assistance, but it was unsuccessful. When she asked for help from the National Guard, Biden himself shot it down.
“We have determined providing this support would negatively impact the readiness of the DCNG and have negative effects on the organization and members,” its denial explained.
Despite all the chaos, Bowser is still vowing to make her city a sanctuary city.
“We’ve reaffirmed DC’s status as a sanctuary city and will continue to send this message because residents should feel safe,” the mayor said.
But it seems that the number of illegal immigrants is a bit overwhelming for her “sanctuary.”
She’s feeling some Texas heat, and she might need to get out of the kitchen.
