Dem Humiliates Themselves After Bungling Gun Part – WATCH
House Republicans are up in arms over the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) decision to go after gun owners who have failed to register their AR pistols or get rid of their stabilizing braces, which have been legal for over ten years. The ATF has proposed a new rule that would require citizens to register their AR and other similar types of pistols if they have a stabilizing brace on them.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D–TX) praised the ATF for its decision to change the rule, saying that pistol braces turn guns into “killing machines.” Her comments were met with criticism from House Republicans, who reminded her that stabilizing braces were first invented to allow wounded service members to be able to shoot firearms normally after their life–altering injuries. “
Any type of firearm has the ability to kill, regardless if they have a brace or not,” said Rep. Steve Scalise (R–LA). “Having a gun to defend oneself against those who might do you harm is kind of the whole point of a firearm.”
Rep. Greg Steube (R–FL) also decried the ATF‘s decision, calling it “a why–bother situation” for gun owners. He added that the ATF should be focusing on criminals and not law–abiding citizens and that the rule change was an invasion of privacy.
“These are law–abiding citizens that are already registered, already have these firearms,” Steube said. “And now, all of a sudden, they’re going to have to go into an NFA registry, and it’s going to be invading their privacy.”
Gun owners and supporters have also come out in full force against the ATF‘s decision, with many of them calling it an overreach of the ATF‘s authority.
The debate over the ATF‘s decision has been ongoing for months and shows no signs of letting up. House Republicans are determined to fight the ATF‘s rule change, arguing that it is a violation of gun owner’s Second Amendment rights and an unnecessary burden on law–abiding citizens.
A solution in search of a non existent problem…I guess withlout those "braces", the everyday firearms would be safe and sane, and your 3 year old can play with it…
