President Trump pleaded with supporters to stop.
Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 6, 2021
I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!

Democrat congressman Ted Lieu demanded that Pence use the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office claiming he was responsible for the chaos.
This assault on our nation’s Capitol is a coup attempt and all those involved should be prosecuted as such.
Also, for those Dems saying we shouldn’t impeach @realDonaldTrump again? You are wrong. https://t.co/N2L3wg4rnP
— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) January 6, 2021
Now is the time for @VP @Mike_Pence to start the 25th Amendment process. https://t.co/GQ0NXhyAK9

Other Democrats demand that President Trump be impeached and Republicans that supported him be expelled from congress.
I am drawing up Articles of Impeachment.
Donald J. Trump should be impeached by the House of Representatives & removed from office by the United States Senate.
We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath.

I believe the Republican members of Congress who have incited this domestic terror attack through their attempts to overturn the election must face consequences. They have broken their sacred Oath of Office.
I will be introducing a resolution calling for their expulsion. pic.twitter.com/JMTlQ4IfnR

Republican Senators and Congressman condemned what happened.
United States Capitol Police saved my life.
Attacks on law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs are never acceptable. Period.
We can passionately protest without being violent.

There is nothing patriotic about what is occurring on Capitol Hill. This is 3rd world style anti-American anarchy.

There were reports of shots being fired and a woman was rushed out of the capitol building.
