Teachers Union President Randi Weingarten really stepped in it after she tried to battle Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Weingarten was ranting over new merchandise released by DeSantis re-election campaign that included a “Don’t Fauci My Florida” t-shirt.

Disgusting. Millions of Floridians are going to die for Ron DeSantis’ ignorance and he’s choosing to profit from it. He doesn’t care about Floridians; he cares about furthering his own cruel agenda. https://t.co/0HnxB3WlZ4

To be clear, the current COVID death toll in America (at the time of this writing) is well under a million. Most would have thought teachers unions president’s could count but apparently not.
Then the facts started to come in, Christina Pushaw, DeSantis press secretary noting that Florida’s COVID death rate is lower than the national average (unlike NY).
Florida’s COVID death rate is lower than the national average, and unlike the Governor of New York, we don’t fudge the numbers. Meanwhile, Randi Weingarten ruined the education of millions of kids by keeping them out of school for more than a year based on a conspiracy theory https://t.co/yfdLCk5Kq4

Daily Caller reporter, Andrew Follett also pointed out that Weingarten was “literally saying ’50 times as many people in Florida will die in the future because of this.'”
Millions?
Since the start of the pandemic, only about 38,000 Floridians have died of COVID in total.
At a minimum, you are literally saying “50 times as many people in Florida will die in the future because of this.”
Kinda sad that you’re supposed to help kids learn math. pic.twitter.com/HeFNUWIJeC

To put things in further perspective Florida’s current COVID death is around 38,000 (at the time of this post) compared to the 53,170 deaths in the less populated state of New York.
Weingarten was forced to back off.
You are all probably right… I shouldn’t have said millions.. I should have just said DeSantis was wrong to do this.. Fauci is an amazing public servant. He shoudn’t be mocked. But I shouldn’t engage in that kind of hyperbole either. My bad… https://t.co/uIGVbPxplA
