Did a Trump Family Member Tip Off the FBI?
The word on the street is that the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago came because somebody in Trump’s inner circle leaked information to them. According to “The Guardian,” former President Trump and some of his aides believe that a family member could have tipped off the FBI about the exact location of classified documents along with the location of Trump’s safe.
Some are indicating that Trump is becoming more and more paranoid, even to the point that he may believe that his own wife, Melania, is working with the FBI. Others have fingered his daughter, Ivanka, or his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
In fact, Trump’s niece, Mary, and his former attorney, Michael Cohen, have speculated publicly about the possibility that Kushner is an informant.
There is no evidence to any of this, and no one knows for sure if there is a leak in Trump’s inner circle. So all of this is simply speculation with no facts to back it up.
Ivanka and Jared were the closest to the Trump White House, and it does seem that they have been distancing themselves for the former president since he left the presidency.
And Ivanka has rejected the idea that the election was stolen, she even testified to this for the House January 6 Committee. The First Daughter said that she accepted Attorney General William Barr’s belief that Trump’s claims of a “stolen” election were “bullsh*t” because she respected Barr.
Trump dismissed her comments and said that she was “checked out.”
Out of the three possibilities mentioned above, Kushner is most likely. The agents involved in the raid seemed to be acting on “witness testimony” that Trump had not returned all the classified documents which were requested by the Justice Department and National Archives.
Questions still loom as to what happened between the negotiations and the raid. We just don’t have all the answers. But we do know this, it’s probably going to get a whole lot more interesting in the days to come.
