Fetterman (Or His Handler) Milks Dress Code Game with GOP Shade
Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman has been making waves with his casual dress code, and he’s not backing down anytime soon. In fact, he’s now using the dress code brouhaha to milk attention for his political goals.
Fetterman, a Democrat, has been known to show up to Senate floor votes in shorts and a hoodie. This has ruffled the feathers of some of his more conservative colleagues, who believe that he should dress more formally.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer officially declared a “relaxation” of its dress code enforcement.
Then Fetterman posted on X about what it would take to get him to wear a suit to work.
“If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week,” he said.
Response was immediate…
“New Democratic strategy: more $ for Ukraine or won’t wear pants in the Senate!” attorney Robert Barnes replied to the post — and he was not alone in his assessment of the situation.
“He’s milking this to a cringe level now,” nationally syndicated radio host Dana Loesch added.
“The Democrat Party of 2023: a senator who refuses to wear pants while voting tries his best to jumpstart nuclear war,” Trump adviser Stephen Miller said.
“No one has been this proud of being a slob since a muppet lived in a trash can,” Washington Times columnist Tim Murtaugh added.
Fetterman had previously attacked House Republicans during an MSNBC interview. He told Chris Hayes that they should compromise on their demands for spending cuts in order to avoid the looming government shutdown.
“The House, the whatever they call themselves Team America or whatever they call themselves, I am just like – hey, I am just like, bring your vote, you know, otherwise they need to go hump a different leg,” he said, leaving Hayes momentarily stunned and apparently speechless.
“Um — the – you were in – uh — you drove your — I think it was a Ford …” Hayes stammered as he tried to get the conversation back on track.
Well there you have it?
If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week.
