First Lady Wakes the Woke Mob and They Aren’t Buying Her Response
You’ve probably heard about how much controversy the first lady caused with comments she made during her visit to Denver.
Dr. Jill Biden said, “I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House, we always do. So, we hope LSU will come. But, you know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come, too, because they played such a good game.”
The was a huge backlash to turning on its head the time-honored tradition of the “champions” coming to the White House, not both teams.
Angel Reese, on the best players for LSU in the championship game tweeted a response with some laughing emojis that said Jill Biden’s invite was “A JOKE.”
Some other responses focused on the idea that Biden was invoking “white privilege” in including the losing team. Iowa has a lot of white players in contrast to LSU.
But the real problem in this story has to do with how the First Lady’s office tried to walk back her comments with a statement posted on Twitter.
“The First Lady loved watching the NCAA women’s basketball championship game alongside young student athletes and admires how far women have advanced in sports since the passing of Title IX,” Jill Biden’s press secretary Vanessa Valdivia wrote.
“Her comments in Colorado were intended to applaud the historic game and all women athletes,” Valdivia continued in another tweet. “She looks forward to celebrating the LSU Tigers on their championship win at the White House.”
But the woke base wasn’t having it, here are some responses:
“We don’t want your crafted press statements. She said what she meant! There’s no back pedaling now—she needs to own what she said!”
“She needs to get on a mic and applaud the achievements of the #LSU team with the same energy she had in coddling the white girl who lost.”
And finally, “In Louisiana we call this crawfishing as fast as you can.”
