Fox’s ‘Gutfeld’ Makes Late Night TV History…Sorry Colbert!

“Gutfeld” on Fox News has hit a brand new milestone this week. In fact, the late-night comedy show that airs at 11:00 pm made late-night history in the month of August finishing as the most watched late-night show in all of broadcast and cable.

Mediaite’s Kipp Jones said that it “became the first non-broadcast network late-night show to defeat ABC, CBS and NBC for an entire month, as it was the most-watched program of its kind during the month of August.”

This is good news for Gutfeld and for Fox, but this is bad news for “woke” host Stephen Colbert. 

The “Gutfeld” show averaged 2.19 million viewers for August, while “The Late Show When Stephen Colbert,” which has been on air since 2017, came in second with an average of 2.15 viewers for the month. 

This is the first time that the CBS show has not finished first in the five and a half years it has been on the air. The “Gutfeld” show just premiered in April of 2021. 

Fox News sent out a press release talking about the success of the late-night show, but also about the network overall. Fox News Channel (FNC) finished the month as the third-most watched network in all of television for weekday primetime, behind only CBS and NBC. And it remained the number one network in cable news for primetime viewers for the 19th month in a row.

The release cited Nielsen Media Research and highlighted how “FNC remained cable’s highest-rated network in total day and primetime with total viewers and the top rated in total day with the 25-54 demo.” This is a very important demographic.

Greg Gutfeld does double duty for Fox hosting his late-night show as well as “The Five.” It is another top show for the network and all of cable news.
