Governor Ron and Casey DeSantis Visit Trump
Alright, folks, buckle up because Florida politics just got a whole lot more interesting. Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis spent their Saturday golfing and dining with none other than former President Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach club.
Now, if you’ve been paying attention to the political chatter, you already know this little outing has people buzzing about one big question: Is Casey DeSantis gearing up for a run to become Florida’s next governor?
Now, Casey DeSantis isn’t exactly spelling it out just yet, but she’s certainly having fun with the speculation. When asked about a potential bid, she channeled baseball legend Yogi Berra, saying, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” Classic non-answer, but let’s be real—if she weren’t considering it, she’d probably just shut it down outright.

Meanwhile, Congressman Byron Donalds has already thrown his hat in the ring after receiving Trump’s enthusiastic endorsement. Trump even posted about it on social media, making it clear that he’s on Team Donalds. But here’s where things get spicy: DeSantis isn’t exactly rolling out the red carpet for Donalds.
In fact, he pretty much dismissed the congressman’s candidacy, suggesting that Donalds has been too focused on national politics instead of delivering results for Florida. “We have such a narrow majority,” DeSantis said, referring to the GOP’s slim control in Congress, “that to be trying to campaign other places and missing these votes, I think, is not something that’s advisable at all.” Translation? Stay in D.C., Byron.

And then, of course, DeSantis went out of his way to hype up Casey as a natural successor—perhaps even better than himself. “I won by the biggest margin that any Republican’s ever won a governor’s race here in Florida,” he reminded everyone, before adding, “She would do better than me, like there’s no question about that.” That’s a pretty bold claim, but given Casey’s charisma, sharp political instincts, and rock-solid conservative credentials, it’s not exactly a stretch.
If that wasn’t enough of a signal, DeSantis even pulled out an old story about the late, great Rush Limbaugh giving Casey his unofficial blessing. According to DeSantis, Rush once told him that Casey was the only person he’d rather see as Florida’s governor over him. That’s a high bar, and DeSantis is making sure people hear it loud and clear.
