Harrison Ford Comments On Trump
Oh, Harrison Ford is talking politics again — and he’s not exactly holding back. In an interview with Variety published Wednesday, the legendary actor — yes, the guy who gave us Han Solo and Indiana Jones — weighed in on the current state of the country under President Donald Trump’s second term, and let’s just say he wasn’t thrilled about what he’s seeing.
“The rich get richer and the poor get poorer,” Ford said flatly. “And that ain’t exactly right.” Now, that’s not exactly an uncommon phrase, but coming from one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars? It hits differently.
He framed it with a little bit of nostalgia too, saying that while in kindergarten we’re taught, “You don’t always get what you want, but you get what you get,” we’re also taught to fight for what we believe in — and right now, Ford feels like that fight is more necessary than ever.
But here’s where it gets interesting: Ford didn’t just gripe about the economy. He pointed out that Americans are struggling to find “commonality” because we’ve been “disaggregated” — a $10 word for “split apart.” He says the economy is where we should find that shared ground, but, in his view, it’s the same story as always: wealth pooling at the top while regular folks get left behind.
Ford has been politically vocal lately — well, as vocal as Harrison Ford gets — openly endorsing former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. He even recorded a campaign video for her, praising her for protecting the right to disagree with her policies.
And he wasn’t the only big name on her team: George Clooney, Cardi B, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Shonda Rhimes all hopped aboard the Harris train too.
When Variety asked if he thought the U.S. was headed in the right direction, Ford’s answer was nuanced. He admitted the country was “on a healthy swing to the right” but predicted it would swing back the other way eventually.
As for what happens next? Ford shrugged it off: “You’re asking an unqualified person. So I don’t have that answer.”
And because it’s Harrison Ford, of course, there was one other pressing question: retirement. Will he ever quit acting? Nope. “They need old people, too, to play old people’s parts,” he quipped.
