What The Head Of Conservative Group CPAC Did To Romney After Witness Vote He’ll Never Forget
This one stung, no doubt about it, Matt Schlapp the head of the conservative group CPAC just publically embarrassed Senator Mitt Romney over his vote for witness in the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump.
On Friday after hours of debate, the Senate voted on whether new witnesses should be allowed to testify during the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.
Fox News reports:
Republicans in the Senate secured enough votes Friday evening to reject Democratic efforts to extend the Trump impeachment trial and call new witnesses, as the final vote on whether or not to remove President Trump from office seems likely to drag into next week.
After hours of debate during the day, the Senate voted 51 to 49 to block a Democratic motion to call new witnesses. The vote came after vehement demands from Democrats to call former national security adviser John Bolton to testify about the Trump-Ukraine saga.
Two Republicans — Utah Sen. Mitt Romney and Maine Sen. Susan Collins — voted with Democrats for new witnesses.
Matt Schlapp who is the chairmen of the Conservative Political Action Conference also known as CPAC gave Senator Mitt Romney some very bad news. As a result of Romney’s decision to vote “yes” with democrats and allow new witnesses Schlapp disinvited him from being allowed to attend the conference.
Schlapp posted on twitter, “The “extreme conservative” and Junior Senator from the great state of Utah, Senator Romney is formally NOT invited to CPAC 2020.”

Schlapp immediately received support over his decision.
Can @GOP pull funding from Mitten’s and back a different candidate in Utah? @jasoninthehouse would be an amazing Senator for Utah!

I am going to CPAC because am better than Mitt Romney:
– I created jobs in America and didn’t outsource them to foreign countries
– I served my country in uniform
– I have never lost an election, especially one I should have won
– CNN hates me
– I am no one’s bitch@mschlapp https://t.co/BFs3dTnswv— Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) January 31, 2020
Good riddance… It’s about time Mitt Romney be held accountable for his actions.
Not sure why he’d want to be at #CPAC anyway, he’s no longer a conservative. https://t.co/KtXVM1tWZY
