High Profile Democrat Delivers A MASSIVE Blow To Newsom’s Hopes Of Surviving Recall
A high profile California Democrat just delivered a massive blow to Newsom’s hopes of surviving the recall election.
Former State Senator Gloria Romero, the first woman to serve as Senate Majority Leader in California has endorsed Larry Elder in the recall election.
Currently, Elder is leading in the polls as the September 14th recall election approaches. The conservative front runner has made school choice and school reform a top issue for his campaign. Both platforms are important to Romero.
Romero was furious when Newsom closed public schools but allowed private schools to remain open.
In a video reported by Laurel Rosenhall of CalMatters.org, Romero explains that she believes in charter schools and school choice. “So does Larry Elder. But not Gavin Newsom,” she explains. “He shut our public schools while he sent his kids to private school.”
Romero has long defied political norms by criticizing leaders of her own party, and many political insiders dismiss her as an oddball.
But voters will likely see this ad with a different lense: A Democrat (& a Latina) calling out Newsom’s hypocrisy on school closures.

“Yes, I’m a Democrat,” she concludes. “But the recall of Newsom is not about political party. It’s about Newsom. Larry Elder for governor.”
Romero was a big player in helping Barack Obama in the California primary.
From the Daily Wire:
In 2008, Romero stepped down as Majority Leader and became chairman of the Education Committee, where she authored a ‘parent trigger’ law that was passed, making California the first state to adopt such a law. It permitted a majority of parents in a failing school to vote as to how to restructure the school.”
The recall election isn’t about the DNC vs the RNC, it is about a state getting rid of their snobby elitist governor.

There’s also another key detail that has Democrats in a panic, the Latino community is leaving them in droves and is driving the effort to dump Newsom.
Recently, the LA Times – who has written all kinds of crazy pieces about Elder – admitted that Latinos “might be the ethnic group that costs” Newsom his job.
First Cuomo fell, now it is very possible that Newsom is about to be unemployed.
