Hong Kong Pro-Democracy Protestors Use An Image Of Trump That Has Liberals Seething And I Can’t Help But Smile
Pro-democracy protesters rallied in Hong Kong on Thanksgiving to show their appreciation to President Donald Trump after he signed legislation that supports their efforts.
President Trump signed the two bills on Wednesday before he secretly left for Afghanistan to visit our troops. The bill provides support for the protesters in Hong Kong and threatens China with economic consequences.
When the demonstrators rallied to show their support for the President they waved American and flags and were holding copies of the image President Trump’s twitter account posted of his face on the body of fictional boxer Rocky Balboa. We now know that tweet was scheduled by the Trump team because the President was in the air headed to Afghanistan. The team scheduled tweets so the President’s lack of activity didn’t seem suspicious and it also later in the day on Thanksgiving made the media look like fools.
The media and the left were predictably outraged over the picture and I would love to thank the Hong Kong protesters for using that image to twist the knife a little more into the heart of crazy leftists everywhere.
One of the bills signed by the president prevents the sale of tear gas and rubber bullets to Hong Kong police. These methods have been used to deter the protesters when they gather. The second bill gives Trump the authority to impose sanctions and remove Hong Kong’s special trading status with the US if China is discovered violated the city’s autonomy.
“I signed these bills out of respect for President Xi [Jinping], China, and the people of Hong Kong,” Trump said in a statement. “They are being enacted in the hope that Leaders and Representatives of China and Hong Kong will be able to amicably settle their differences leading to long term peace and prosperity for all.”
It’s no secret these bills could negatively affect the President’s attempt to end the trade war with China. But, you now at least from an optics standpoint President Trump’s move annoyed China. The communist government claims these bills allow the US to “bully” them.
“This so-called bill will only make the Chinese people, including our compatriots in Hong Kong, further understand the sinister intentions and hegemonic nature of the United States. It will only make the Chinese people more united and make the American plot doomed to fail,” China’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
Hey, leftists, I don’t remember a time during Obama’s reign protesters in other countries was holding up pictures of him…LOL!
