Fauci Just Found Himself Front & Center Of A Looming Investigation That Could Turn His World Upside Down
There is growing pressure coming from all sides demanding an investigation into the “lab-leak” COVID-19 origin theory and it puts Fauci front and center.
Last year, intelligence continually pointed to a lab in Wuhan, China as the origin of the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic.
Republicans leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee have asked Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to “release unclassified documents and declassify other documents” related to claims that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was involved in risky coronavirus research.
“The WIV has been a major focus for the U.S. government and the World Health Organization (WHO) in examining the origins of COVID-19 and the possibility of a laboratory leak,” the representatives wrote Blinken.
Early in the pandemic many in the scientific community has pushed back against the lab leak theory however, even the Biden Administration confirmed the Trump Administration intelligence surrounding the viruses origin.
Why the push back? There’s a lot of money at stake.
Josh Rogin, writer for the Washington Post uncovered that the Wuhan lab was conducting gain-of-function research (viruses are captured from the wild and developed in lab settings to make them more dangerous). Scientists claim that this research is done so that they can prevent or learn how to handle future outbreaks.
The Wuhan lab had a history of poor safety practices and former President Obama thought the research was so dangerous that he shut down programs funding similar research.
Before the research was shut down Fauci (who is a big believer in gain-of-function research) was the one person (from the government) in charge of handing out millions of dollars meant to “predict” virus outbreaks.
There is growing evidence that Fauci restarted the program without Obama’s knowledge and the program continued during the Trump administration until the pandemic started.
Some of the top epidemiologists and microbiologist in the country are calling for serious investigations into the “lab theory” not to blame China but to find out if gain-of-function research was the cause.
“The very fact that it could have been of laboratory origin, even if that cannot be substantiated, means we need to understand that there is risk in this research that may have triggered the current pandemic and surely could trigger a future pandemic,” Richard H. Ebright, Rutgers University biosafety expert said.
Since intelligence is pointing to the Wuhan lab many are worried that the projected $200 million set aside for gain-of-function research could accidentally cause another pandemic.
To be clear we aren’t saying Fauci created the coronavirus but there is evidence that he did some bureaucratic gymnastics to restart the gain-of-function research grants. Those funds went to the Wuhan Lab where we know this type of coronavirus research was taking place and just so happened to be the area where the virus originated.
What’s got Fauci in a bind is outside of Washington there are a lot of highly qualified people that want this type of research shut down because of the potential dangers. Should the lab-leak theory be proven there is going to be a lot of hand ringing in Washington because it would mean the US taxpayer had a role in funding the research and someone is going to be the scapegoat.
People are going to want to know who sent the checks to the Chinese and all signs lead to Fauci.
Some progressives are so fragile they can’t bear taking off their masks outside even though Fauci said it was ok. If it turns out that Fauci cut the checks to China and the media turns on him to insulate Biden it’s going to turn their worlds upside down.
