Illegal Immigrant Charged With Teen’s Murder
Police in Texas have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Lizbeth Medina, who was found dead in her apartment on December 5th.
The suspect has been identified as Rafael Govea Romero, an undocumented male, who was apprehended in Schulenburg, Texas on Sunday. According to the Edna Police Department, Romero is believed to be responsible for the death of Lizbeth Medina and has been charged with Capital Murder.
The arrest comes as a relief for the tight-knit community of Edna, where the news of Lizbeth’s murder had shaken residents. The 16-year-old’s mother, Jacqueline Medina, spoke to Fox News Digital last week and recounted the devastating moment when she found her daughter’s body in the bathtub of their apartment at Cottonwood Apartments.
Medina had last seen her daughter on Tuesday, before she left for work. She came home in the evening to find Lizbeth unresponsive in the bathtub, after repeated attempts to reach her on her phone. The teenager’s friends and family became concerned when she did not show up for a Christmas parade she was supposed to be in. Medina’s worries turned into a nightmare when she discovered her daughter’s lifeless body.

The mother and daughter had recently moved to Edna from Nebraska, and they were the only two people with keys to the apartment. Residents of the apartment complex were shocked and saddened by Lizbeth’s death, with many expressing concern and support for the grieving family.
Authorities had released security camera footage of a person of interest in the case, before arresting Romero on Sunday. The community of Edna, including Lizbeth’s family and friends, are now relieved that the suspect is in custody, but the pain of losing a loved one remains.
Jacqueline Medina had described her daughter as “an amazing, good girl” who was “very mature” for her age. She was deeply loved by her friends and family, and her death has left a void in the community. The Medina family has set up a fundraising page titled “Justice for Lizbeth Medina” to help with finding the suspected killer and bringing justice for their daughter.
As the investigation into Lizbeth’s murder continues, her family and the Edna community are left wondering what could have motivated such a heinous act. They mourn the loss of a young life taken too soon and remember Lizbeth for the beautiful, caring, and loving person she was.
The Edna Police Department has requested the community to come forward with any additional information that may aid in the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the community continues to grieve the loss of Lizbeth Medina and hopes that justice will be served for her tragic death.
