Is the Medical Community Ready to Admit They Were Wrong on COVID?
Are some medical experts actually going to show some humility three years after the COVID fiasco? Could they admit that they were wrong?
Well, at least one medical researcher is calling on the scientific community to admit that mistakes were made.
Kevin Bass, an MD/Ph.D. student, wrote an op-ed for Newsweek where he said that he was wrong and the scientific community was wrong as well. He also said that the mistakes cost people their lives.
For the last several years it seems that the scientific elites were speaking in unison. They just kept doubling down on how necessary it was for broad vaccine mandates and prolonged lockdowns. Even though this caused suffering for many Americans.
Any professionals who questioned the science of this storyline were generally not accepted by the mainstream and they were often mocked and censored.
Bass said he “staunchly supported” public health authorities in the beginning as they called for vaccines and booster shots along with lockdowns.
But now the scales have fallen from his eyes, he said.
Public health authorities “overstated the evidence and misled the public on a litany of issues, including natural COVID immunity vs. vaccine immunity, school closures and disease transmission, aerosol spread, mask mandates, and vaccine effectiveness and safety, especially for young people,” Bass wrote.
He blames the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as the World Health Organization (WHO).
Bass believes that if our public health officials had led with less hubris, the process of the pandemic in the United States might have had a very different outcome, and there would have been fewer lives lost.
He shines a light on the fact that the elderly died in hospitals alone and their families were denied funerals, and children committed suicide. Millions of Americans lost their jobs, and people were forced to get vaccines even when it went against their religious and health objections.
He is not the first to recognize that medical experts oversold their positions on COVID. CNN’s Dr. Leana Wen said at the end of 2021 that “cloth masks are little more than facial decorations.”
