It Looks Like Nikki Haley’s Hat Is In the Ring! – Watch
Nikki Haley served in former President Donald Trump’s administration as the United States ambassador to the United Nations. According to both the Post and the Courier, she is planning to launch a 2024 bid for the presidency this month.
According to media reports, someone from Haley’s inner circle confirmed that she will throw her hat into the ring for the 2024 presidential race. They also reported that according to an invitation that is going out to her past supporters, a “special announcement” will take place on February 15.
Fox New Digital has confirmed sources indicating that Haley will formally announce her bid on that date. This means that Haley is planning to run against her former boss, Donald Trump in the GOP presidential primary contest if she is to secure her party’s nomination. Trump made his announcement last November and has already been campaigning in New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Before Haley served under Trump as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, she served as governor of South Carolina. And before that position, Haley was a representative for the state in the House of Representatives.
While doing an interview with Brett Baier of Fox News, Haley said that when considering a presidential bid, “You first look at, does the current situation push for new leadership?” Haley also asked, “Am I that person that could be that new leader? Yes, I think I can be that leader,” she said.
This decision goes against what Haley said in 2021. She indicated then that she would not run if Trump ran again when asked if his run would preclude her from running against him.
But Haley telegraphed a change of plans in an interview with Fox News earlier this month, saying, “It’s bigger than one person. And when you’re looking at the future of America, I think it’s time for new generational change. I don’t think you need to be 80 years old to go be a leader in D.C.”
Just a few days ago, Trump told reporters he recently received a phone call from Haley. “She called me and said she’d like consider it and I said you should do it,” Trump told reporters over the weekend.
Haley, whose parents were Indian immigrants, has been considered to be a viable candidate for some time now. She won the governor’s mansion after a hotly contested primary in which she was seen as the underdog.
During her time in Trump’s cabinet, she launched a political nonprofit that served to promote her policies and, later, a political action committee that allowed her to support endorsed candidates.
Since Haley left the Trump White House, she traveled the country with a particular focus on visiting early-voting states. She also released a memoir about her time working with the former president.
