It’s Time To ‘DEFUND’ USA Soccer After Their Board Decides To Disgrace The National Anthem
Republican Congressman, Matt Gaetz has suggested that it’s time for the United States to terminate its international soccer team after the US Soccer Federation repealed a 2017 policy that required players to stand for the national anthem.
“I’d rather the US not have a soccer team than have a soccer team that won’t stand for the National Anthem,” Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz tweeted on Thursday. “You shouldn’t get to play under our flag as our national team if you won’t stand when it is raised.”

The Washington Examiner reports:
U.S. Soccer’s board of directors voted on Tuesday, reversing a rule adopted after star midfielder Megan Rapinoe knelt during the national anthem before a match in 2016 in solidarity with former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who began the controversial protests against police brutality and racial inequality.
The decision was made two weeks after protests began to spread across the country following the death of George Floyd while in the custody of Minneapolis police officers.
The U.S. Soccer heralded the decision, tweeting, “Black Lives Matter. We can do more and we will.”
The U.S. Soccer Board of Directors voted yesterday to repeal Policy 604-1, which required our players to stand during the national anthem.

Rep. Matt Gaetz is right it’s time to defund USA soccer teams if the players being supported by US tax dollars refuse to honor the United States, plus the men’s team is an international joke anyway.
