In October 2020, just weeks before the presidential election, a group of former intelligence officials sent a letter to the media claiming that the New York Post’s stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop were part of a Russian disinformation campaign. The letter was widely circulated and helped to suppress coverage of the stories, which alleged that Hunter Biden had used his father’s position as vice president to enrich himself.

However, new evidence has emerged that suggests that the Biden campaign was directly involved in the creation of the “Intel letter.” In particular, emails obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show that a Biden campaign lawyer, Marc Elias, worked with the letter’s authors to coordinate its release. The emails also show that Elias was aware of the contents of the laptop, which he had been briefed on by the FBI.

The release of the “Intel letter” was a major setback for the Trump campaign. It helped to create the impression that the stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop were part of a Russian disinformation campaign, and it discouraged many voters from reading the stories. “It was all done with politics, and it looks like there was some some real connections with the Biden campaign,” Jim Jordan, House Judiciary Committee Chair, said during an interview late last week on the John Solomon Reports podcast, declining to be more specific because more witness interviews are being conducted this week.

The new evidence that has emerged about the Biden campaign’s involvement in the “Intel letter” raises serious questions about the campaign’s conduct. It is possible that the campaign conspired to suppress damaging information about Hunter Biden, and that it did so to help Joe Biden win the election. If this is true, it would be a major scandal that would call into question the legitimacy of Biden’s presidency.
