Joe Only Got Some Hours to Celebrate…The Other Shoe Has Dropped
President Joe Biden got to enjoy the results of the midterm elections for a few hours, but already his own party is working behind his back to make sure that he doesn’t run again in 2024.
The Democratic Party is celebrating that the wave was just a trickle, but they seem to know how slim their chances are in 2024 for the Oval Office.
According to Fox News, there is a group by the name of “Don’t Run Joe” that has already begun generating momentum. They want the party to drop the idea of a Biden-lead ticket next election season:
“It’s clear that Joe Biden should not be the party’s presidential nominee in 2024,” the grassroots organization RootsAction said in a press release on Wednesday, announcing their “Don’t Run Joe” campaign.
The campaign is aimed at highlighting Biden’s unfavorability and the risk of running a presidential candidate that has one of the lowest approval ratings in U.S. history.
The “Don’t Run Joe” campaign said renominating Biden would be “a tragic mistake.”
It went even further: “A president is not his party’s king, and he has no automatic right to renomination. Joe Biden should not seek it. If he does, he will have a fight on his hands.”
“We cannot risk losing in 2024. We shouldn’t gamble on Joe Biden’s low approval rating,” the campaign will say in its digital advertisements.
The campaign has not put any names of better candidates out yet, they just know who they don’t want to run.
This group is not an ally of the Right. According to the organization, their anger at Biden revolves around his “administration’s failure to do more to help fight climate change, protect voting rights, and relieve student debt.”
So although we can agree with their aim, the person they want in Biden’s place is a far cry from the center to the right.
