Just In Time For Christmas: Nike And Kaepernick Team Up To Slap Americans In The Face With A Disgraceful New Sneaker
After Kaepernick completely sabotaged a sneaker that celebrated American and Nike pulled the sneaker, the two have now teamed up and made a sneaker that slaps all Americans in the face.
Nike’s new shoe the Colin Kaepernick X Nike Air Force 1 low sneaker is commemorating the very first-day Kaep took a knee on the football field. Yep, you read that right.
sneakerbardetroit.com reports, “This special edition Nike Air Force 1 comes dressed in a Black and White color scheme. It features a Black leather upper, a gradient-faded Swoosh on the sides completed with several personal details. A hangtag with Kaep’s number 7 atop a White midsole and icy translucent outsole with the date Colin first took a knee in protest “8/14/16” on the right shoe finishes the design.”
In the picture below you’ll see the sole on the right shoe is the date that Colin Kaepernick first took a knew. It also would be the shoe that others would see if you took a knee wearing the shoe. On Nike’s website, the date on the right sole appears to have been removed or not shown.
Kaepernick showcased the sneakers during a workout in Atlanta which ended up in him not getting a job in the NFL. Originally the NFL set up a workout for him to showcase his skills but, Kaepernick blew them off and had his own workout at another location and as a result, he’s not playing in the NFL. Many belive Kaepernick was trying to get the NFL to pay for the promo of his new sneakers.
Earlier this year, Kaepernick contacted Nike officials saying he and others felt the “Betsy Ross” flag — featuring 13 stars in a circle — featured on the shoes was linked to a period of slavery. The Betsy Ross flag is one type that was flown during the American Revolution. And the shoes were set to be released in celebration of the July Fourth holiday.
But the flag’s design, which was created back in the 1770s was to represent the original 13 colonies. Nike pulled the shoe before it was even sold.
Frankly, someone that kneels during our anthem is disrespecting American and I find that offensive. Do you think Nike would listen to us and not release the shoe because it disrespects our great country? Yeah, I didn’t think so either.
According to nike.com the shoe will be released on December 23rd and the MSRP is $110.00. During a limited released stadiumgoods.com limited sizes were going for $200-$400. In March, Nike signed a $200 million deal with the US Olympic Committee and the deal covers the US athletes’ apparel and footwear, consumer merchandise, as well as volunteer uniforms for the LA 2028 Olympics.
