Kamala Gives Speech In Detroit On Labour Day
The political world is buzzing after videos surfaced showing Vice President Kamala Harris delivering what appears to be the same line in two different accents during speeches just hours apart on Labor Day. The speeches were given in Detroit and Pittsburgh, and the videos quickly spread online, sparking a wave of accusations from MAGA supporters.
Let’s dive into what happened. On Monday, Harris spoke at campaign events in both cities, where she repeated a line that praised union members: “You better thank a union member for sick leave, you better thank a union member for paid leave, you better thank a union member for vacation time.”
This is where things got interesting. In the videos, some people noticed a difference in how Harris delivered the line in Detroit versus Pittsburgh, leading to claims that she changed her accent depending on the audience.

The Trump War Room, a campaign account, was among the first to point out the contrast by posting side-by-side clips of Harris, inviting viewers to “spot the difference.” Conservative commentators like Greg Price and internet personality Dom Lucre chimed in, accusing Harris of being inauthentic, with Lucre specifically claiming that she adopted a “southern Black accent” in Detroit while reverting to her “regular accent” in Pittsburgh. The implication here is that Harris was tailoring her speech to resonate differently with each audience, which they argue makes her come across as insincere.
Trump campaign advisor Alex Bruesewitz also jumped into the fray, highlighting another part of Harris’s speech in Detroit, where she said, “Let’s just get through the next 64 days, how ’bout that?” and contrasting it with her tone in Pittsburgh.
These observations have led to a wider conversation about Harris’s speaking style and whether it reflects an effort to connect with different demographic groups or something more calculated.
Omg listen to how Kamala Harris says “64 days” in Detroit vs. how she says it in Pittsburgh just a couple hours apart..

This isn’t the first time Harris has faced scrutiny over her identity and how she presents herself. Former President Donald Trump made headlines in July with his controversial comments about Harris “happening to turn Black” for political gain, which drew sharp criticism and accusations of race-baiting. Harris responded to those remarks in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, dismissing them as part of the “same old tired playbook.”
