Kamala Snubs Dem Senator Over War Of Words, ‘Pretty Insulting’
Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly refused to answer Sen. Elizabeth Warren‘s, D–Mass. calls after the Senator failed to publicly endorse her as a potential running mate for President Joe Biden in 2024. This snub comes amid increasing speculation that Harris may not be the best fit for Biden‘s ticket if he runs for reelection in the next election cycle.
Warren has called Harris twice to apologize for her comments, but the Vice President has not returned the calls. During a Boston Public Radio interview in January, the radio host asked Warren if Harris should be Biden‘s running mate if he runs for reelection in 2024. To this, Warren responded, “I really want to defer to what makes Biden comfortable on his team.”
While Warren later issued a statement to GBH News affirming her support for the Biden–Harris ticket, the snub has become a source of frustration among Democrats. Gov. J.B. Pritzker, D–Ill., told CNN, “People who are denigrating her are aggrandizing themselves.”
However, the lack of support for Harris isn‘t limited to Democrats. Prominent Democratic fundraiser John Morgan recently told the New York Times that Harris‘ weaknesses as Vice President could be used against Biden in the 2024 election. “I can’t think of one thing she’s done except stay out of the way and stand beside him at certain ceremonies,” he said.
Many have seized on the growing discontent among Democrats and are eager to point out Harris’ track record as a liability. From her lack of political skills to her refusal to accept Warren’s apology, Harris is quickly becoming a target for criticism. It remains to be seen if Biden will choose her as his running mate in 2024, but Republicans are sure to make the most of her current public image if he does.
