Karine Jean-Pierre Once Again Not on the Same Page with Her Boss – Watch
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre maybe should watch, or at least have one of her staffers watch, each time President Joe Biden does an interview.
Last Sunday, Biden talked with “60 Minutes” reporter Scott Pelley. When Pelley asked the president if he was going to run for a second term, Biden responded, “Look, my intention as I said to begin with is that I would run again. But it’s just an intention. But is it a firm decision that I run again? That remains to be seen.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) got that message and she proved it with some legendary caginess during her weekly press conference.
But the White House Press Secretary must not have been watching.
During KJP’s press briefing this week, a reporter referenced a poll released this weekend by ABC/The Washington Post that revealed: “56 percent of Democrats want the party to nominate someone other than Biden, and for people under 40, 75 percent want the party to pick someone different.”
The reporter said that this information was not good news for the president and she asked if Biden was “concerned by this.”
Jean-Pierre immediately began to struggle with an answer, so she attempted to dodge the original question. “…So, as you know, I’m–I’m very limited on how I can discuss any kind of elections. Uh, I will reiterate what we have said many times from here, what the president has said many times, even as recently as his ’60 Minutes’ interview, is that he intends to run. Uh, I don’t have any more announcements on that.”
The press secretary then took a sharp left from the question and began talking about what Biden has “delivered” for the American people. She discussed at great lengths certain so-called successes of this administration, including the misnamed “Inflation Reduction Act.”
Jean-Pierre was specifically asked if Biden was “concerned” about the polls that show even his party questioning his 2nd term.
Jean-Pierre is just on another page, even though she references the “60 Minutes” interview. Everyone who watched took away from it that it “remains to be seen” if his running again even is a “firm decision.”
