In a White House press briefing on Wednesday, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced backlash and mockery for asserting that President Biden has done “everything that he can” to address the ongoing border crisis. Critics questioned the accuracy of this statement, pointing out that executive powers could be utilized to stem the flow of illegal immigration.
Jean-Pierre responded to queries about potential collaboration with Senate Republicans seeking amendments to the administration’s current border policy. She highlighted Biden’s immediate efforts, stating, “On day one, the president put forward a comprehensive immigration plan – legislation – for Congress to take a serious look at and to work with him on getting that done.” According to Jean-Pierre, the immigration system has been broken for decades, and Biden has taken individual actions to address the border situation.
However, critics expressed skepticism online, with National Review contributor Pradheep Shanker questioning, “So basically he is Incompetent?” GOP Rapid Response director Jake Schneider added a twist to Jean-Pierre’s statement, remarking that the president has done “everything” to understand what’s happening at the border, “…except securing it.” Hot Air associate editor Karen Townsend offered a succinct response, stating, “Speaks volumes.”
Physician and conservative commentator Brian Tyson accused the White House of spreading falsehoods, punctuating his comment with Pinocchio-style emojis. The Missouri GOP account adopted a sarcastic tone, saying, “Hear that guys… he’s done everything…”
