Let This One Sink In: A Progressive Group Has Been Tracking Cellphones Of Anti-Lockdown Protestors
A progressive group that claims they to “protect Medicare” has been caught tracking cell phones of protesters who attended protests in opposition to Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s (D) stay at home order.
The group’s name is, The Committee to Protect Medicare used technology to track the travel patterns of protesters who participated in two anti-lockdown protests that criticized the draconian governor.
The group claims that they tracked the cell phones to see if the protestors were responsible for spreading the coronavirus around the state.
“I think you can absolutely argue that a likely high-risk group of individuals all gathering in close quarters have a high risk of propagating the virus,” Dr. Rob Davidson, executive director of the group and a failed congressional candidate, told the Detroit News.
Over 400 protestors were tracked by the liberal group however, the group nor Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services’ contact tracing initiative has found that no coronavirus cases were transmitted by the protestors.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ contact tracing initiative has come across no reports where a COVID-19-positive individual reported attendance at an event, including protests, in their travel history, said Lynn Sutfin, a department spokeswoman.
Protestors data was collected using a technique called “geoharvesting” which is when, “data is gathered from a smartphone app on a device connected to the internet. That data contains geolocation information that can be queried to show movement on a map,” the paper stated.
Tony Daunt, the Executive Director of Michigan Freedom Fund said to the Grand Rapids Reporter:
The idea that the Committee to Protect Medicare finds it necessary to track the data of cell phones from conservatives who engage in their first amendment rights and doesn’t necessarily have the same concerns about spreading the virus from those they may be more ideologically aligned with is a form of rank hypocrisy from people like Dr. Davidson, the governor and really large segments, if not all segments, of the Left and Democrats here in the state of Michigan.
