Liberal Media’s War on Christmas
Don’t believe the liberals have declared a War on Christmas? On Christmas Eve morning, the Washington Post published this article, “How to have the perfect secular Christmas in 6 cities.” It was written by journalist Gabe Hiatt.
The article starts right off bashing the sacred holiday, “Christmas can be a tedious day in America if you’re not a Christian,” he complains, “but without an obligation to work or celebrate, there’s also an opportunity to make up your own holiday.”
Hiatt continues in his plan to thwart the celebration of Christ’s birth by talking about all the unnecessary closures, “Depending on the size and demographics of your town, it can be tough to find a place to go.”
He then describes what is available in larger cities that are liberal and diverse including, Washington, D.C.; New York; Chicago; Houston; Seattle; and Los Angeles.
The things Hiatt describes in these cities could be celebrated without having to through the traditional holiday under the bus. It seems he is trying to show hostility to the Christian faith.
Most of his information was void of real substance and seemed like a sad way to experience this national holiday. For instance, his advice for spending a secular Christmas in New York City was to order Chinese food, go to the movies, and see things outside…
Wait, he got paid for writing this article? Such imagination at work!
The Washington Post also shared an opinion piece on December 23 from Stephen L. Carter at Bloomberg, “Nothing Says Christmas Like a Lawsuit.” And they also published, “The war on ‘Happy Holidays’ isn’t about Christmas.” The author of this claimed that wishing people “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas” is “declaring my allegiance to one idea of America that opposes another: inclusive vs. exclusive.” The rest of her piece is a rant about “inclusivity.”
It’s a war all right.
