Manchin Flipped Then Flopped and Now Talks Tough? Come On Joe…
Sen. Joe Manchin shocked his fellow Democrats and stabbed the GOP, along with his West Virginia constituents, in the back with the secret deal he made with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. But now he is trying to talk touch again.
Manchin appeared on several Sunday morning news shows in a vain attempt to explain his sudden reversal to support a reconciliation bill that raises taxes on the middle class and spends $400 billion on “climate change” initiatives.
To put it mildly, things didn’t go well for the West Virginian.
He squirmed when asked if he would support Biden in 2024 and had trouble maintaining his “moderate” status.
Let’s get a little background. Sen. Manchin will supposedly get a guarantee from Sen. Chuck Schumer that Democrats would support a bill to reform the permitting process for pipelines and energy leases.
But Manchin was asked about the possibility of Schumer and his gang, including Biden, reneging on the deal. That’s when Schumer got all tough guy. He promised that there would be “consequences” for all of them.
Let’s see here…Manchin actually lied when he made his sudden reversal. What makes him think that the other players will keep their word? Schumer has a long history of betraying his word when he makes “deals.”
And what really could Manchin do to the gang if they go back on their word? The truth of the matter is that Manchin bent his knee to the climate chaos in his party.
“If I don’t fulfill my commitment promise that I will vote and support this bill with all my heart, there are consequences, and there are consequences on both sides,” he said on “Meet the Press.”
Maybe the GOP should reconsider the way that they concede his reelection in hope that he will continue to be their ace up the Republican sleeve.
