Martha’s Vineyard Residents Hold Rally
Ah, Martha’s Vineyard—the land of million-dollar summer homes, yacht clubs, and an endless supply of progressive virtue signaling. The island’s residents love to remind the rest of America how compassionate and welcoming they are—until, of course, the reality of illegal immigration lands right on their doorstep.
Remember back in 2022 when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis masterfully exposed their hypocrisy? He flew just 50 illegal aliens to the Vineyard, and within hours, the liberal elite were in full-blown panic mode. The same people who championed “sanctuary” policies suddenly couldn’t get these migrants off their island fast enough.
They called in the National Guard, pleaded for federal help, and whisked the migrants away to a military base. Crisis averted! Their “sanctuary” remained untouched, and they went right back to lecturing middle America about its “obligations” to take in millions of illegals.
Fast forward to today, and the Vineyard elite are at it again. Now that President Donald Trump and Border Czar Tom Homan are following through on their pledge to round up and deport the “worst of the worst,” the same residents who couldn’t be rid of their migrant visitors fast enough are now out protesting, waving signs that say “I pledge to resist” and “Protect people, resist hate.”
Martha’s Vineyard officials are begging for federal assistance over what they are calling a “humanitarian crisis” after just 50 illegal aliens were flown into the elite island where the nation’s wealthiest residents vacation. https://t.co/fEQVRi6dQS

One resident, Marina Kaufman, went as far as to say, “We have to protect these people because they are part of the workforce of the Vineyard.” Ah, there it is—the quiet part out loud. It’s not about humanitarianism; it’s about cheap labor. Vineyard elites love illegal immigration when it keeps their gardens trimmed and their summer homes spotless. But ask them to actually house or live alongside these same migrants, and suddenly, it’s a national emergency.
Then there’s Bill Bridwell, another concerned resident, who lamented that ICE is “grabbing people in their homes and taking them back to their home countries where they haven’t been in years.” What a tragedy—people being sent back to their actual homeland! Bridwell at least concedes that criminals should be dealt with, but his complaint is at odds with the reality of Trump’s enforcement policies. Homan has made it clear: this is about deporting dangerous criminals, gang members, and repeat offenders, not the Vineyard’s landscapers and dishwashers.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt set the record straight when asked how many of the deportees have criminal records. Her answer? All of them. Because, as she pointed out, every illegal alien is by definition someone who has violated U.S. immigration law. Under this administration, that’s treated as the crime that it is. A simple concept, but apparently a “culture shift” for those who spent years under an administration that turned a blind eye to illegal immigration.
Now, technically speaking, illegal presence in the U.S. is not a criminal offense unless the individual has previously been deported and then returned illegally. But that’s a legal technicality, not an argument for amnesty. The federal government has every right—and an obligation—to enforce its laws and deport illegal aliens, especially those who commit additional crimes while here.
