McCarthy’s Already Moved In! Too Soon? – Watch

Why did Kevin McCarthy seem to twiddle his thumbs for so long? He must have known that he did have the 218 votes he needed.

So much has been written about whether McCarthy will become the next Speaker of the House when the GOP takes the majority in the House.

Just this week it was released that there weren’t just five Republicans who were guaranteed “no” votes, there were another nine who believed McCarthy had not done enough to get the conservatives on his side. 

On Tuesday morning, Fox News reported an interesting tweet from Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry: “Kevin McCarthy has known for months he doesn’t have 218..but he has dragged..the conference..the Congress and the country..to the brink.”

This gets to the root of the problem many have with McCarthy, he has acted like he is entitled to the role of Speaker and hasn’t done what is necessary to earn it. He’s just tried to wheel and deal his way there. 

It is believed that the “establishment” in D.C. just prepared for a McCarthy speakership and the top class of the GOP decided that they just wanted a smooth transition instead of grassroots fight to make sure the party used its majority in the best way possible for conservatives. 

Real work to secure the votes in the House did not start until the last minute, the lack of real effort speaks to an entitlement mentality that elites have. McCarthy has already moved his stuff into the Speaker’s office!

So a handful of conservatives have noticed that McCarthy’s career has been more ladder climbing than conservative foundation building, and they may just disrupt that. 

Will more in the GOP take a stand against the Republican establishment? This week will see all this play out and it could turn ugly.
