McConnell Gives President Trump A ‘Kill Switch’ If Dems Try Any Shenanigans At Trial
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell paid very close attention to the impeachment circus that House Democrats held and he is not going to let any of that nonsense occur in the Senate. In the event that the Democrats try to pull any type of shenanigans McConnell has installed a “kill switch” that will aid the President and his legal team.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi late last week finally sent the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate. She formally named managers to the senate and Rep. Adam Schiff was named lead manager that will act as the lead prosecutor for the Democrats in the Senate impeachment trial.
During the impeachment process in the House Republicans were handcuffed by Democrats and only after storming hearings held in quiet rooms they were able to at the least make the impeachment hearings public. House Republicans are warning Senate Republicans of the games Schiff plays.
“It’s incumbent upon the Senate to preserve the right of the President’s legal team to ask for a verdict or move to dismiss this sham impeachment anytime they see fit during the Senate trial,” a source close to House GOP leadership told Breitbart News. “Otherwise, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans risk allowing Adam Schiff and his conspiracy caucus to hijack and take control of the trial.”
Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) wrote a resolution to immediately dismiss the articles of impeachment, the Senate did not vote on the measure. But, that didn’t stop McConnell from using the resolution as a way to stop the Democrats.
McConnell took heed and has included Hawley’s resolution into the trial rules that will allow the President’s legal team to block Democrat gamesmanship in the trial.
“I am familiar with the resolution as it stood a day or two ago,” Hawley told Axios’ Jonathan Swan on Saturday. ”My understanding is that the resolution will give the president’s team the option to either move to judgment or to move to dismiss at a meaningful time.”
.@realDonaldTrump deserves the right during Senate trial to ask for a verdict or move to dismiss – otherwise trial will become endless circus run by Adam Schiff https://t.co/JsUXsnhYTI

What McConnell has now done is make it very clear to Schiff, if he pulls any funny business the Senate or the President can end the impeachment trial immediately.
