McConnell Triggers Dems After Doubling Down On Supreme Court Possibility
Senator McConnell has the media and Democrats quaking in their boots after an interview he gave on Tuesday as he doubled down on what may happen with the Supreme Court.
McConnell pledged that he would fill any Supreme Court vacancy in 2019 or 2020. Democrats have attacked McConnell because he blocked President Obama’s nominee in 2016. McConnell stated that the government is not divided like it was in 2016 since the Republicans control both the Senate and the White House. McConnell said:
“You have to go back to 1880 to find the last time, back to 1880s to find the last time a Senate of a different party from the president filled a Supreme Court vacancy created in the middle of a presidential election. That was entirely the precedent,” McConnell said on Tuesday about his decision to block Garland.
“There was nothing I did that was, would not have been done had the shoe been on the other foot had there been a … A Republican president and a Democratic Senate. So look, they can whine about this all day long. But under the Constitution, there is co-responsibility for appointments,” McConnell added.
Since Trump took office Republicans have confirmed conservative judges to the Supreme Court. Three of the nine current justices are older than 70. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 86 and has had a lot of medical issues this year. Ginsburg recently said at the annual National Book Festival in Washington DC, “This audience can see that I am alive. And I am on my way to being very well.” The justice had just completed three weeks of radiation treatment for a malignant tumor on her pancreas.
The left is in a full panic unsure if Ginsburg will make it through the 2020 election in the hope that they win the White House so Trump doesn’t get to nominate another justice. I gotta give it to McConnell he knows what’s at stake and he knows we have to get as many conservative judges confirmed in the courts as possible. Getting conservative justices confirmed is the best offense we can have to stop these out of control Democrats.
