Media Reports On Christmas Event At The White House
It’s become a predictable rhythm: Melania Trump steps into a spotlight, says or does something completely inoffensive — and immediately, the media tries to find a reason to be offended. This year’s White House Christmas Tree ceremony followed that script to the letter.
The First Lady, dignified and understated as ever, greeted the National Christmas Tree with warmth and quiet grace. The tree, grown at Korson’s Tree Farms in Michigan and named the National Grand Champion, arrived in a traditional horse-drawn carriage.
Melania thanked the handlers, wished the small crowd a Merry Christmas, and returned inside. The entire scene was festive, calm, and respectful — a refreshing contrast to the loud, performative pageantry we’ve come to expect in recent years.
But apparently, that’s the problem.
The Daily Beast and similar outlets couldn’t help themselves. In a bizarre attempt to manufacture criticism, they called the event “minimal,” joked that Melania hadn’t “warmed up” to the season, and recycled the tired complaint about her 2018 red Christmas trees — which, for the record, were elegant, symbolic, and frankly far less unsettling than last year’s “artistic” performance from a dance troupe more famous for political activism than seasonal cheer.

There’s an unspoken rule in much of the corporate press: if a conservative woman does something traditional and tasteful, find a way to call it cold or creepy. But if a Democrat leans into performative wokeness wrapped in tinsel? That’s “bold,” “inclusive,” and “inspiring.”
No one skewered Jill Biden when her administration flew in a progressive dance group for last year’s bizarre, offbeat holiday showcase — a spectacle that left many Americans scratching their heads. Nor did the media say a word about the White House sourcing their 2022 Christmas Tree from a farm still recovering from hurricane damage. But Melania speaks for just under a minute, and suddenly it’s a problem.
The hypocrisy is almost impressive in its consistency.
Yet, Melania remains unfazed. She doesn’t seek out headlines, she doesn’t snap back, and she doesn’t fumble through over-scripted speeches. She brings tradition and elegance back to the holidays, whether the press likes it or not.
And judging by her appearance alongside President Trump at the annual Turkey Pardon — smiling, present, and perfectly poised — she’s ready to do exactly what she’s done every year: ignore the noise, and let Christmas speak for itself.
