New Dem Georgia Senator Warnock Now Under Criminal Investigation For Violating State Election Laws
The Georgia State Election Board is moving forward with a criminal investigation of Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock for violating Georgia election laws.
Investigators are probing Warnock’s role serving as board chairman of the New Georgia Project, a voter registration organization founded by wanna be Georgia governor Stacy Abrams. The board unanimously voted to move forward with a criminal investigating, the lone Democrat and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger abstained in the vote.
Officials have discovered that under Warnock’s leadership in 2019 the group failed to follow deadlines and submitted 1,268 applications to Gwinnett County after the 10 day deadline.
“Today’s State Election Board meeting was the first time we heard about the allegations regarding NGP’s important voter registration work from 2019,” New Georgia Project CEO Nse Ufot said in a statement. “We have not received any information on this matter from the Secretary or any other Georgia official.”
Abrams founded the group in 2014 and this isn’t her first dust up with election officials. In 2018, she lost to Brian Kemp in the race for governor by 55,000 votes and cried voter fraud. The investigation into the group has also found they “sought to register ineligible, out-of-state, or deceased voters.”
Warnock barely defeated US Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) in the runoff in January, along with Democrat Jon Ossoff beating US Senator David Perfue. The wins produced a 50-50 split in the Senate making Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris a tie breaking vote if needed.
Since Warnock won during a special election so he is back on the ballot in 2022 however, he could be indicted before he gets back on the campaign trail.
It’s very telling that the lone Democrat on the board abstained from the vote indicating there is defiantly fire behind the smoke of the allegations found by officials in the preliminary investigation.
It’s no wonder Fulton County District Attorney announced a criminal probe into the phone call between Raffensperger and Trump that occurred in December, Georgia politics is a mess.
