New NYT Poll Has Good News for the GOP
According to the latest New York Times Siena College poll, Republicans have the advantage over Democrats as the midterm elections loom in just about 20 days. A total of 49% of likely voters indicated that they are leaning toward supporting a GOP candidate if the elections for Congress were held today. Only 45% of likely voters said that they would support the Democratic candidate.
This recent study was done October 9-12 and it focused on almost 800 registered voters across the United States. According to the New York Times, the margin of sampling error is +/- 4.1 percentage points.
The GOP led the Democrats by 15 points with white voters but was at a deficit with black voters and Hispanics.
51% of those in the south who were impacted by lax illegal immigration enforcement said that they leaned toward Republicans. And in the region, a majority of registered independent voters and 3% of registered Democrats also suggested they would vote Republican.
Only 5% of respondents indicated that abortion, which has been the primary issue highlighted by Democrats, said it was the biggest problem facing the country today. 26% of the respondents indicated that the economy was the top issue, and 18% said it was inflation that was their deepest concern. N
Voters concerned with the economy and inflation preferred Republicans over Democrats 64% to 30%.
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), the House Republican Conference chairman, shared with Fox News that inflation was the “top reason” for what she believes will be a “big Republican year … because people want to stop the trillions of reckless spending that has happened under a single-party Democrat rule.”
Stefanik claimed that “Bidenflation has been a tax on every American. … It’s more than just numbers. It’s impacting the bottom line. It’s a pay cut on every American.”
Take a look at the actual numbers, this is good news for the Grand Old Party.
