NYT’s Leave’s Out Key Detail In Kavanaugh Sex Abuse Claim That Turns The Allegation On Its Head
On Sunday the NYT “broke” a story about new allegations of sexual assault allegedly committed by Brett Kavanaugh.
According to Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly who adapted the story from an upcoming book:
“We also uncovered a previously unreported story about Mr. Kavanaugh in his freshman year that echoes Ms. Ramirez’s allegation. A classmate, Max Stier, saw Mr. Kavanaugh with his pants down at a different drunken dorm party, where friends pushed his penis into the hand of a female student.”
First of all, if this was true it’s not Kavanaugh’s fault, it’s his friend’s fault. The other question is you would think someone besides Max Stier would have witnessed this. Who is Max Stier? All the Time’s tell us is that, “Mr. Stier, who runs a nonprofit organization in Washington, notified senators and the F.B.I. about this account, but the F.B.I. did not investigate and Mr. Stier has declined to discuss it publicly. (We corroborated the story with two officials who have communicated with Mr. Stier.)”
The book doesn’t come out until Tuesday but the writers from the NYT’s left out one key detail…The women has no recollection of the incident. Stier wasn’t even the eye witness, he heard it from a friend.
John McCormack from National Review lays out that he believes that this “latest” allegation is to back up an already debunked accusation he writes:
The new allegation is supposed to help lend credence to the on-the-record allegation that Kavanaugh’s Yale classmate Deborah Ramirez made in 2018. Pogrebin and Kelly sum up Ramirez’s allegation: “She and some classmates had been drinking heavily when, she says, a freshman named Brett Kavanaugh pulled down his pants and thrust his penis at her, prompting her to swat it away and inadvertently touch it. Some of the onlookers, who had been passing around a fake penis earlier in the evening, laughed.”
Pogrebin and Kelly downplay Ramirez’s own doubts about whether Kavanaugh did what she now alleges, choosing rather to lard up their New York Times story with details that are supposed to demonstrate how under-privileged Ramirez was: She had to sell ice cream during the summer in high school, bought a cheap car, and only had an above-ground swimming pool as a teenager (the horror).
None of these details corroborates her accusation against Kavanaugh. But the story is framed to make it seem like Kavanaugh was the type of privileged jerk who might expose himself in front of an under-privileged college classmate.
Pogrebin and Kelly write that a couple of students say they had heard about the alleged incident in the days after it allegedly occurred, but the authors provide no indication there is any first-hand witness to corroborate the allegation.
Look, maybe Tuesday when the book is released they’ll be some bombshell but as Hanna Rosin writes in her New York Times review of the book, “In the end they turn up no smoking gun.” (So why the heck is this news?)
The left is furious that President Trump has been able to install conservative justices on the Supreme Court. President Trump has done an amazing job installing conservative judges everywhere, even on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. All the left wants to do is tear down an honorable man, and try to undo the work President Trump has accomplished.
