Obama Comments On Recent Trump Administration Release
The Trump administration’s recent decision to investigate the skyrocketing rates of autism has already sparked a political firestorm — and, predictably, former President Barack Obama is leading the charge to frame it as “violence against the truth.”
During a speech earlier this week, Obama took aim at Trump’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) announcement, where the president and his public health team highlighted a possible link between acetaminophen (Tylenol) use during pregnancy and increased autism risk.
While the topic is undeniably sensitive, Trump’s announcement wasn’t made off the cuff. The warning drew directly from a Harvard study — one of several in recent years — that raised red flags about the use of the common over-the-counter drug during pregnancy.
But Obama, never shy about a public rebuke, brushed off the evidence and claimed Trump’s remarks “undermine public health” and “create anxiety” for parents of children with autism. He also implied that the rise in autism cases is largely due to the broadening of diagnostic criteria rather than an actual surge. Yet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) paints a different picture: one in 31 children in the U.S. is now diagnosed with autism, a dramatic rise from previous decades.
We have people in power making broad claims around certain drugs and autism that have been continuously disproven. The degree to which those comments can undermine public health, do harm to women who are pregnant, create anxiety for parents who do have children who are autistic –… pic.twitter.com/rxCZ7OIzs8

More glaring is Obama’s selective outrage. He stayed silent when President Biden falsely promised Americans that COVID-19 vaccines would stop transmission and infection — a claim that has since been debunked. Yet he calls Trump’s inquiry into a Harvard-cited study “violence against the truth.” The inconsistency is impossible to ignore.
Meanwhile, the backlash from some on the left has veered into dangerous territory. In a disturbing trend, some liberal women posted videos online of themselves taking Tylenol while pregnant in a defiant “protest” against Trump’s announcement.
According to American Frontline Nurses, one such challenge ended tragically. A nurse, Nicole Sirotek, revealed she received a frantic call from a husband whose pregnant wife overdosed on Tylenol, is now on a ventilator, and may lose both her life and the baby’s.
This is where the politics end and reality begins. Whether or not the Harvard study proves a direct link between acetaminophen and autism, the Trump administration’s stated goal is to follow the data — not pander to pharmaceutical companies or social media trends. Obama’s attempt to frame this as “violence against the truth” only highlights how politicized public health has become.
