Officials Scramble To Make Sure Harvey Doesn’t End Up Like Epstein
Officials are scrambling to make sure convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein doesn’t end up like Jeffery Epstein.
New York officials are still facing heat after pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was found dead last year in his Manhattan lock up.
New York jail officials are not taking any chances with their newest high profile inmate. Weinstein is going to have his own cell and a dedicated team of correctional officers with him. One prison official told the New York Post that, “Harvey is going to be isolated as much as possible and will always have a detail with him throughout the prison. He’s never going to be like other prisoners, able to walk down the hallway or sit in the canteen alone.”
There is even a chance he will be moved to another prison away from New York.
Special measures are even being take at Bellevue Hospital, where Weinstein was taken because he was having chest pains after he was convicted. Joe Russo, president of the Assistant Deputy Wardens/Deputy Wardens Association said that a jail captain is escorting him everywhere he goes. They also have a elite emergency response unit there in case he tries to harm himself.
The entire jail hospital unit is shut down to prevent Weinstein from running into any inmates.
Russo also said that city officials may have him moved to a state prison in Albany to keep him out of the city. “He’s very high-profile and you can’t put him with somebody else,” Russo said.
Avery Cohen, City Hall spokesperson would only say “he’s in our custody right now,” which is true until he is sentenced.
Weinstein was convicted this week of rape and criminal sex acts, he is facing up to 29 years behind bars. He should be well prepared though because he’s hired a “prison consultant” to help him get ready for jail.
Two corrections officers have been charged with falsifying documents claiming they were checking on Epstein as required, both have pleaded not guilty.
