Patel Releases Investigation Involving Members of Congress
The latest revelations out of Washington paint a deeply troubling picture of federal overreach, raising serious questions about the balance of power, the role of law enforcement, and the sanctity of the Constitution. In a report first disclosed by Fox News, it appears that nearly a dozen Republican lawmakers—including Senators Lindsey Graham, Josh Hawley, and Marsha Blackburn—had their private communications allegedly tracked by former Special Counsel Jack Smith as part of his investigation into President Donald Trump and the events of January 6.
The claims come via FBI Director Kash Patel, who stated Monday that newly discovered files reveal Smith’s team, known internally as “Arctic Frost,” subpoenaed phone records from service providers, capturing not just call logs, but metadata such as the geographic origin and receipt of the communications. The alleged surveillance took place in 2023—years after the Capitol riot—and according to Patel, it was politically motivated.
We recently uncovered proof that phone records of U.S. lawmakers were seized for political purposes.
That abuse of power ends now.

“Proof that phone records of U.S. lawmakers were seized for political purposes,” Patel wrote bluntly in an X post. In no uncertain terms, he called the practice a weaponization of federal power, vowing that such abuses “end now.”
More than a few senators are echoing his sentiment. Senator Josh Hawley compared the surveillance to scandals like Watergate, calling it an “abuse of power beyond J. Edgar Hoover.” Others, like Senator Lummis, declared the move an “attack on the legislative branch” itself. Senator Hagerty didn’t mince words either: “This isn’t the first time.” Both she and Senator Johnson recalled previous instances of surveillance under the Obama administration, suggesting a disturbing pattern.
The truth comes out. Biden’s Stasi who claimed to be saving “our sacred democracy” in fact worked overtime to destroy it – all for power. They spied on Catholic churches, prosecuted pro-lifers, deployed the FBI against parents at school board meetings – and tried to tap the… https://t.co/d9ULjfVZWM

Dan Bongino, the new Deputy Director of the FBI and a former Secret Service agent, delivered the findings personally to the impacted lawmakers. His remarks cut to the core: “It is a disgrace… that the FBI was once weaponized to track the private communications of U.S. lawmakers for political purposes.”
What’s particularly unsettling is the timing. The records obtained weren’t tied to an imminent threat or active criminal conspiracy. Instead, a source claimed the surveillance was likely connected to votes on certifying the 2020 election—raising alarms about whether political dissent, rather than criminal behavior, was the real target.

That line between legitimate investigation and political surveillance has always been razor-thin. The Constitution grants Congress separation of powers for a reason. When one branch, especially the executive through its investigative arms, appears to leverage intelligence tools against another, the very fabric of American democracy is strained.
Perhaps most dramatically, these revelations have reignited scrutiny not only of Smith, but of long-standing allegations about the Obama administration’s surveillance of Trump allies. Now, with the U.S. Office of Special Counsel opening an inquiry into Smith, and former presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard releasing documents that suggest a years-long campaign against Trump was seeded at the highest levels of the Obama-era National Security Council, the stage is set for a reckoning.
Jack Smith tracked my private communications and those of my colleagues during his witch hunt to investigate @POTUS.
This is exactly the type of political weaponization of the federal government under Presidents Obama and Biden that Republicans and President Trump have been… pic.twitter.com/hzGtXnjngV
